Planning For A Residential Landscape Design By Following The Basic Principles

The most important thing that you need to remember in order to implement a good residential landscape design is planning. Everything needs to be in accordance of what is stated in the plan. The latter must be the result of carefully studying all areas that need to be developed. There may be minor changes than can be done when the project is already on-going, but most of the principles must stick with the original plan.

It is not easy to be a landscape designer or an architect because you have to make sure that everything will look good, all areas are safe and that your clients are always satisfied. There are times when you will find that it is so hard to balance things out. There are also certain situations wherein you will feel clueless about where to start and how will you go about a difficult plan. Whenever you feel that you are stuck and you are finding it hard to squeeze out your creative juices in order to create the ultimate residential landscape design, it will help if you are going to look back and rely on its four basic principles.

Unity. You have to take note of all the materials that you are going to use for the project. You have to be consistent with your choices and it is okay to resort to repetitiveness in order to attain this principle. The easiest way to start the process is by deciding on a theme. By knowing beforehand what kind of look would you want to implement on the landscape will make it easier for you to look for the right materials that you are going to need to achieve such theme. You have to create unity with the proper use of plants and non-plant elements.

After listing out all the materials that you intend to use for the project, you then have to decide about what to do to attain natural blending by mixing and matching the right colors and hues, height, size and texture. There are many steps that you can do after that is going to be integral in the whole plan, such as plant grouping. The latter is created by picking the right plants that will complement the overall physical landscape. These plants must have the same shapes and must be placed at the same distance from each one.

Color. This element provides life to the whole project. You can keep it at a low or you can also be very edgy, depending on the preference of your clients. The colors will set the mood and atmosphere on the whole area. These will also tell you how you are doing as far as your theme is concerned. You can place dominant colors at the spots that you want to emphasize. The kinds of colors that will likely stand out include yellow, red and orange. The colors that will complement the background are those that are cool to the eyes like green, blue and purple.

Lines. These are able to tell the flow of the overall landscape.
